Meet Kyra, Violinist

 - How old are you? I am 15 years old.

 - What do you like best about playing your instrument/singing? What I like best about playing my violin is that I like being able to play popular music that I know, and expressing my feelings by playing the violin.

 - What do you like least about it? The part I like least about playing is the practicing for hours on end, however, I know that it really helps me in the end to be a better musician.

 - What do you like most about being in SMYOC? The things I like most about being a part of SMYOC is Ms. Karnbach, and meeting new musicians.

 - What was the most memorable part of last season in SMYOC for you? The most memorable part of last season in SMYOC was that everyone disliked playing Downton Abbey, except for me… I loved it!

 - Tell us one “hidden” fact about yourself. A hidden fact about myself is that I broke 3 school swim records as a freshman in high school.

 - When you're not participating in SMYOC, what else are you up to? When I’m not playing with SMYOC, I am doing homework, swimming with Rockfish Swim Team or watching the best team on earth, the Pittsburgh Steelers!

 - If you could grow up to be famous, what would you want to be famous for? If I could grow up to be famous, I would want to be famous for acting or saving an endangered species.

 - I could not live without _____? Animals

 - If you could be invisible for a day, what would you do? If I could be invisible for a day, I would probably spy on my cat or visit my brother in college.

Meet Tom, Trumpeter

Tom Wilson

Tom is one of the newest members of SMYOC. He and his trumpet joined us in January 2015. We asked him a few questions to get to know a little bit more about him, and here are some things we learned.

 - What do you like best about playing your instrument/singing? It sounds very bright and cheerful.

 - What do you like least about it? STICKY VALVES. They need a lot of looking after.

 - What do you like most about being in SMYOC? It is fun and challenging at the same time. Mrs. Karnbach definitely knows how to make funny gestures.

 - What was the most memorable part of last season in SMYOC for you? When I gave Mrs. K the flowers [at the end of the concert]. I was nervous, because it was really important.

 - Tell us one “hidden” fact about yourself. I am in a kids' pop-rock band with some friends. We're called "The Fancy Fedoras". I play trumpet and bass guitar.

 - When you're not participating in SMYOC, what else are you up to? A lot of outdoor activities. Also, I like playing on my bass guitar.

 - I could not live without _____? CHOCOLATE!!!!!!!
